Data: Apple 2.0, The Mac Observer, Apple Actually, it's probably more than 12 million as of today, at least if credence is given to the extrapolations reported by Philip Elmer-DeWitt in the Apple 2.0 blog. Those extrapolations are based upon calculations done by members of The Mac Observer forums and AAPL Sanity at Investor Village. The data in the spreadsheet comes from iPhone owners reporting their date purchased, partial serial numbers, and IMEIs.
